we’ve discovered a fun exception. The series 3 launch of cult ‘serial

I was very excited this morning to find a recent post at Newsarama announcing that Boom! Studios will see the publisher creating comic books based on iconic Disney/Pixar hit movies such as The Incredibles, Toy Story, Monsters Inc and WALL•E.
The above graphic of Monsters Inc characters Mike and Sulley reminded me of the lively concept art drawn during the inception of the film, and I love the vibrant colours and scratchy lines. I cannot wait to see how these, and especially the WALL•E comic, turn out.

Over at Empire magazine they’ve put together an infuriating little quiz on poster design, and over the last hour the entire design studio at my workplace (including yours truly) have been wracking their brains and cursing over it! I’m ashamed to say, I only got 29 out of 46 correct, and 4 of the ones I didn’t get are amongst my favourite films of all time! Oh, the shame…
Over at VCC Graphics today an interesting post caught my eye, and it’s definitely something I’m going to follow up in my personal and professional life. Number 4 is something I’ve always lived by and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone! Anyway, their basic summary is:

Inspired by the lovely CJ.ESQ and his ‘7 Random Things Game’ - because I’m trying to keep my mind off other things this week and I’ve been taking photos of my stuff to help pin down an interior design plan - I’ve decided to add to the fun and post my own ‘7 Random Things’.
Some of these photos are of favourite things that hold a lot of memories for me. And I quite like the number 7 ;-)

1. Musical angel pig. This lovely little fella (and I do have a soft spot for pigs!) was spotted in the gift shop of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and purchased immediately. He plays a pretty little tune and will likely reside in my art/design bookcase when my home office is decorated.
My cat Stitch doesn’t look too impressed, however. He’s suspicious of singing pigs.

2. Plush transforming WALL•E toy. My lovely boyfriend scoured the internet and bought me this ahead of us seeing the film, which he knows I’ve been obsessed with for months. I love it, such a cute character!!

3. My lonely houseplant. When I left the old house I decided to let my ex keep all the current plants, as they were fine there and I’d be decorating in the new place anyway. But I took my smallest dragon tree (dracaena) anyway just to pop in the kitchen and add a little bit of life. I can’t wait to hit the garden centre and buy a pile of new houseplants to brighten the place up!

4. Chrysler Building print. This is a very narrow, very tall black-and-white print I got years ago (and had a heck of a time getting a frame for, with its unusual size). The Chrysler Building has always been my favourite piece of architecture in the whole world, due to it being featured in a lovely little book called ‘Cat & Canary’ that I vividly remember from my early childhood. I tracked down an original copy of that book recently and it made me smile instantly, seeing it again.
I bought a matching print of the Statue of Liberty from the same photographer, and both will hang side by side…whenever I can decide where to put them!

5. New shoes. I’m not really a shoe-a-holic, but I do like my extra high heels. These are by no means my most expensive pair, but I do have a soft spot for them because of the wicked little ‘wings’ on the back and the fact they look sexy as hell when worn! ;-)

6. Rubber duckies! It started with the smallest yellow duck there - on a Virgin Airlines flight to Los Angeles years ago we got little freebie flight bags, and attached to the travel toothbrushes were miniature rubber ducks!! This tickled me greatly and I’ve kept mine (and my companion’s, haha!) ever since. Then someone bought me the ‘Devil Duckie’ to keep it company, then the ‘Dead Duckie’, and so on. I also have a line of coloured extra-mini duckies atop my Mac at work. Another quirky little pile to peek out from my design books in the home office, I think.

7. Tiffany & Co necklace. I have a weakness for these beauties, and I’m lucky enough to have a few lovingly tucked away in my jewellery boxes. This one I treated myself to when I visited San Francisco back in 2003, and I’ll always treasure it because SF is my favourite city in the whole world.
I’ll admit, I’m slightly obsessed with WALL•E - and I haven’t even seen the film yet (shakes fist at lucky Americans getting the film release 2 weeks ago!). I’m an avid fan of Disney/Pixar, so a couple of years back when I initially heard about WALL•E being in development I knew it would be another corker. But it takes one heck of an artist to make me fall in love with an animated character.
Another thing that makes me drool over Disney/Pixar is their advertising and design (Hint: Pixar peeps, that’s my profession! Ahem!) and these gorgeous movie posters for WALL•E are no exception. Beautifully designed and laid out, so much so that I’ve actually bought copies for my home. I think they’ll look great in my office/studio alongside my Lilo & Stitch posters and collectibles. I’ll have to hunt down a Monsters, Inc. poster to complete my favourite animated films.

For the foreseeable future I will be refurbishing my new home, so the last few months for me have been literally obsessed with interior design - dozens of books, hundreds of blogs, thousands of suppliers/designers and an absolute ton of inspiration.
One thing I absolutely adore is lighting, and it’s no underestimation to say that the right lighting can make or break a room. So these elegant little beauties from bernabeifreeman have certainly made my favourites list.
